I saw this production. She must've been having a bad day because although I'm not a major fan of hers, I wouldn't say she was this bad when i saw her.

This is not Debbie's best. Although I think this is more of a one-time bad performance because I've heard her sing since and she sounded a thousand times better.

To be fair, Ms. Voigt was ill the day that this recording was made, which is probably why her voice doesn't sound as fresh and focused as usual here. I heard her at other performances during the run and she was stunning.

hmmmmm....she's no Leontyne Price....Ms. Price does the ENTIRE chromatic slide toward the end of the aria in ONE BREATH in her latest take on the piece...back in 1991...at 64 years old...
