The first part of a series in which you can follow along as I do a restoral on a 1958 Deville Travel Trailer. This is an effort to help other vintage trailer enthusiasts with their projects.

  • However, I do rescue trailers and get them to just road worthy and sell them to other enthusiasts who wish to do their own restoral. The hardest part is finding them. Not restoring them...

  • "create an eBay account and sell your restorations."

Ebay sucks. I have had an Ebay account for a very long time now. Too many scam artists on there and half the time you have to relist because the winning bidder turned out to be a scam from somewhere in another country. Also Ebay is for selling things quick and cheap. Not for selling things like this for a profit. So far, all the trailers I have sold were to people who spotted them during the restoral process and then waited for completion.

  • "But if you add it all up in hours I only make around anywhere from nothing to about $3 per hour. So it doesn't really pay very well. More of an investment with a small return"

What's important is doing what you like AND being able to do what you like. But I think you should create an eBay account and sell your restorations. Bring them to a point where they're safe to be transported and "mostly" referbished to the point where you _can_ make a minimal profit, seems like.

  • "are you on commission?"

No I just do it because it is fun and it is a way to have a nice trailer to camp in for a while and then I sell it hopefully for a profit. But if you add it all up in hours I only make around anywhere from nothing to about $3 per hour. So it doesn't really pay very well. More of an investment with a small return.

  • "Who said that?"

All of 'em. Every one of 'em.

When you restore these puppies, are you on commission? Or do you bundle them up and sell them to people you already have lined up to take them, maybe?

  • Who said that?
