I can't visualize how you suspend the ends without the coil unravelling.

Can anyone tell me how to make an indoor CB ant for an apartment. I bought a firestik for indoors and it does not work at all. Thanks in advance!

Absolutely amazing! This is precisely what I have been looking for! I have antenna wire ordered and purchased the ARRL Antenna book at our last club meeting. Thanks for the simple yet informative video. I'm sure it would be helpful to see it in action if you ever get a chance!

Thanks. Rob

Going to have to try this as soon as I have a suitable radio.

Love my dipoles! I have a 160, 75, and 40 meter multiband dipole up, and i use it all the time. It requires no tuner after i pruned it for where i talk. I just bought a 500' roll of 14 guage wire from The Home Depot and some PVC pipe for the center insulator..

@N0rthwestRadio thank you, i have now joined my local ham club and studying for the license.

Your best bet for monitoring only would be the longest wire possible and perhaps a small antenna tuner at the transmitter to assist in making the circuit resonant over a broad spectrum. A single long wire will work better than anything balanced antenna for receiving. The longer the better.

i love short wave listening on hf, if i was to make a dipole for the band i wanted to listen on by rolling up the wire to make it shorter would i get a better reception? or for listen wouldnt it make any differance as the signal would just hit the parts of the wire showing.
I like this idea. Any idea where I can get the directions to make this? It would be my first home-brew antenna.

Chuck... Just build a regular dipole, but make the wires as long as the lowest band you want to use. Then roll the ends up to shorten it for other bands. You can find directions for a dipole on the internet. Just do a Google search...
Good Luck

nice job one ting how do you roll it out to a different band if its in a tree?

I use it as an inverted vee. If not, you'll have to lower it to make adjustments. You can mark the wire with tabs so you'll know how much to roll out or in each time
