Police do nothing as bikes are still being rode on the pedestrian part of Walney Bridge. There's no reason why this bike user should not be on the road.

    Ha ha!

What's the matter? No more original comments left?

    :-)

  • I'm curious as to where and how to view the relevant Traffic Regulation Order which states such. Not saying you're wrong, cycle paths are usually signed as such.

  • A quick update: I'm waiting on someone at Cumbria County Council to check the relevant T.R.O. and give a definitive answer.

  • I never new this till we scaffolded it(the bridge) and i complained about a cyclist and was told by the main contractor that the pavement is also the designated cycle path. He was apparently told this in one of many meetings with the town hall.

  • Assuming it does exist; I'm going to print a copy of the T.R.O., keep it in my favourite cycling bag and start cycling on the footpath across the bridge.

  • It's taken a little while, but I now have what I consider the definitive answer from Allan McNicoll of Cumbria County Council. He says "it is not legal to cycle along the footway over Jubilee Bridge, Walney".

Looks like I'm going to be doing it the same way I've been doing it for the past 24 years, by cycling on the road.
