More vids coming soon (I Promise), but this one is just a quick vid talking about how I was able to save my poor Zoom H4n after it decided it wanted to swim in a river I was taking footage in. I heard about people saving their cell phones in similar situations by putting them into a bag or jar of white rice for a few days and they would work afterword. I understand the principle behind why it might work, but seriously thought it would not work in my case. But it did!! I cannot tell you how happy this made me. My H4n is seriously my FAVORITE piece of gear I have!!

  • good to know ~ ~ that's awesome ~ ~

    I just got a H4n today ^__^ such amazing sound ~~!!!

  • @PushkaCom I can honestly say that the H4n is my VERY FAVORITE piece of gear I own.

  • @musichistorynut heheh ~ I just got mine in the last week~ and I'm blown away at how amazing the sound quality is (as are my parents too ~ heheh)

it really is amazing studio quality sound, and such a portable small recorder ~ ^__^

    I'm so excited about sound now ~ ~ ~

  • @PushkaCom For field recording, the included foam windscreen for the built-in mics is not very good. I bought a fuzzy windscreen from a company called Redhead. They make them just for H4ns! It works AMAZINGLY well! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • @musichistorynut hehehe ~ ~ I saw heaps of videos on YouTube ~ and I've already got one in the mail ` ~

well.. i got it on eBay, so may be from somewhere else - but same fuzzy-ness ~ ^__^

just uploading unboxing/testing ~ (i plugged it into my computer and recorded using H4n as a mike, but it was really bad ----- then i tried recording normally and it's fine...............hmhmhm~~

  • @PushkaCom Gotta make sure that if you are using Phantom Power, you are using the correct voltage. I ruined a shoot once by having 48v when all it needed was 24v. Not sure if that helps in your case. I use a Tascam FW-1082 as my main i/o board, so, I have not messed with the functions that the Zoom offers as an interface.

  • Thanks for the info!

  • @musichistorynut ooh ~ I need to watch out for that ~ especially because i live in Australia, and we have different specs when it comes to power plugs.....

    this is my unboxing/ test ~ watch?v=rQfRFXSBXs4

  • @SeeBillyRun Yeah - you really need to give it time. To my thinking, If it was going to make the difference of whether or not it worked, I was willing to wait for a week or so if needed. $300 is a lot of money for me. I am just so relieved it worked. You have to have a LOT of rice in the bag too. Pretty much enough to have the whole thing immersed in it.

  • @musichistorynut I think the 3 days helped to make a difference because I just returned from a meeting with my uni' prof' & she was telling me about how she dropped her iphone in the toilet, she emphasized the toilet was "clean", & had to get it fixed. I then mentioned you, ha ha, & your vid/rice trick. She told me tried it, but it didn't work... BUT... she didn't leave her iphone in the bag for 3 days. She left it in the bag for only a couple of hours.
