  • @krazed1189 I'll check again tomorrow, I'm to tiered now. I know multiplexing, but I just didn't thought of it to use it in this. It didn't cross my mind.. xD

  • @woutervddn I'm sure there is if you look around. If you don't know anything about multiplexing, though, you should read up on wikipedia or something. It's a pretty simple concept- you effectively have a switch that switches between multiple input, only allowing one to be on at a time.

  • @krazed1189 omg that is nifty.. nice found, didn't think of that :O Is there a scheme online somewhere? I looked on the website but I couldn't find it.. :)

  • @woutervddn You only need one arduino- you control each layer via multiplexing. What's basically happening is one layer turns on at a time and the multiplexing circuit switches between each layer. This happens so fast, though, that the animations appear seamless.

  • quick math: 8x8x8 = 512 LEDs x 3 colors = 1536 connectors.. I wonder how many arduino's I need to control that :O

  • 2c

  • That's epic. I wish I had an LED cube. lol Little alone a 8x8x8 cube! :D
