they were really good, am three months away from taking my 1st dan for black belt and am hoping to pass
-
well done
-
why were they wearing white belts for a black belt grading? (and why no mitts & pads for sparring?)
-
Very well done. It's tough to grade in front of Sensei Kawasoe, but even worse when you know somebody is recording it for YouTube!!
Was there any test of Jyu Ippon Kumite on this grading?

Ah yes a lesson in humility - well done to the cadets. Thanks for reply
Hi, Sensei Kawasoe had decided to bring back an old tradition - as most karateka would know, weekend seminar usually ends with grading, so that over 4 classes over the weekend, those intending to go for their black belt grade " stand out " in a class, they wear white belt, so that Sensei can keep an eye on them... Hence the reason for 1st Kyu karateka wearing white belt.... theirs was the 1st grading after the change..... after a lot of hard training.....done everyone proud...
