Here I show how to change the gear oil in a six speed transmission for a 2007 Nissan Frontier. It requires a GL-4 gear oil so I use almost four and half quarts of 75w-90 GL-4 gear oil for manual transmissions and transaxles from Amsoil. For information on the product visit www.lubedealer.com/nvsynoil

Always check the owners manual, or Chilton manual, but according to Amsoil's lookup guide, yes it takes a GL-4 gear oil in the manual transmission, or you may want to try calling the local nissan dealer.

Which oil will protect transmission longer and make shifting the smoothest? Amsoil or Redline for manual transmissions.

I've only used Amsoil, I've read some people have success with Redline also on the frontier forum.

i used 75w90 on my manual trans 2009 nissan sentra , now the specs says i got to use 75W80 but my mechanic said im better with the 90 ,, i use the car for deliveries in the city so i got a lot of shifting to do , till now i love the new oil but i was wondering if this oil is going to protect the trans in the long run????

Your transmission will last as long as you keep up on the maintanence, the manual for my truck says to use 75w-85, I choose to use the 75w-90 to protect better in the long run.

I have used both and redline eliminated the notchy shifting that these trucks are notorious for amsoil although good did not.

I was just wondering if there is any real difference between the Amsoil transmission fluid and Redline. I have also heard of synthetic oils being rated as group 4 and group 5 oils with group 5 oils being the best but I don't understand this.
