UNICEF: Meet the young artists of "Maria's Children"

MOSCOW, Russia, 25 February 2007 -- Last week in Moscow, UNICEF Ambassador Lucy Liu demonstrated her artistic skills during a visit to 'Maria's Children,' a unique art studio in the city's centre.

The young artists at the studio are all orphans, or have otherwise been abandoned by their parents.

Maria's Children is run by artist Maria Yeliseeva and has been a second home to thousands of children over the past 14 years. In a country where nearly 200,000 children live in institutions providing the minimum of custodial care, the studio is a beacon of hope.

In this video, UNICEF correspondent Elizabeth Kiem reports on the aspirations of the young artists from this unique art studio.
