Walter Huston and Joan Crawford made the original movie called Rain, taken from the Broadway play of the same name. On Broadway, Sadie was played by Jeanne Eagles. Later a movie was made about Eagles life story, starring Kim Novak and Jeff Chandler. Huston and Crawford did a superb performance in Rain.Thanks for posting this remake.

"Rain" is closer to Maugham's short story. This screenplay is a wide divergence from the original. Nowhere near as good, as it doesn't represent Maugham's excellent prose. Just a cheap Hollywood script.
