read the instructions and plug pc sync into camera, some camera will need an adaptor to sit under flash with pc sync then plug pc sync from sf-18 into adaptor. as soon as you do this it will work fine.

LPSPHOTO -really? Have to plug it to the camera? And not the flash? But the flash will be setup as a studio light meaning I'm using wireless then how would that pack do with the wireless flash?

Hi, I bought one of these and had the same problems exactly. After much searching on the web I found you have to connect the PC sync to the camera not the flash. Try it, I bet it works no problem.

That's wierd.Have you tried the authentic Nikon SD-8A external battery to see if this problem also occurs?
