Tati is nothing short of a genius. His films are fun, innocent, thrilling, magical, and contemplative. In particular, Mon Oncle is about the juxtaposition of the traditional, friendly, old world and the impersonal, extravagant, new world. Unfortunately, the new world wins, and Play Time is about M. Hulot's struggle to assimilate into such a technological, detached society. Both PlayTime and Mon Oncle are film perfection at its core. Tati knows how to paint the screen with wondrous imagery.

@thiswilldoblue I assure you it isn't simple. Every scene is full of immense detail. Tati spent an entire year just to make the sound of this film alone.

I WANT TO LIVE LIKE THAT.................... :-D I own the complete Tati collection on DVD and i can only reccomend it. The movies are warm, witty, sarcastic, elegant and very very funny. Rowan Atkinsin has admitted that Mr. Bean is a close relative to Mr. Hulot

Thank you so much for posting this - knew it was from a Tati film, but didn't know which before now. Have wanted to see that again for years. Thanks.
