Poaching of endangered sea turtles has become a serious threat on the island of Mohéli, Comoros. The Junior Ecoguards decided that something had to be done to ensure that their own children would still be able to see these majestic animals nest on the island's pristine beaches. The Junior Ecoguards have raised awareness in their community with theatrical presentations and have stopped poaching on the beaches with nightly patrols during the nesting season. They hope to spread the Junior Ecoguard programme throughout the island and further their own knowledge of turtle conservation and ecotourism.
