I read this book several years ago and found it absolutely heartbreaking. It's almost unimaginable to think that child abuse like this goes on in the world. Pelzer was blessed in that he survived his ordeal; many victims aren't so lucky. Additionally, whether or not the narrative is 100% accurate isn't the point. If Pelzer's story helps anyone in a compromising situation, it's fulfilled a higher purpose than most books ever do.

His Dad, according to the book wasn't a Dad. I'm lucky that my Dad was a DAD, but when you read about his father, I just think " WTF" ? His father's reaction when she took a knife to the kid was unbelievable.
its so sad that his clothes did not even look as good as some of the other videos and trust me they were already horrible!!!! :(

I am currently reading this book, it's really sad I can't understand why she would do this to david and even worse his father did nothing about it. I also have read living dead girl that book was just blunt and realistic but I did find it a bit weird that 'Alice' didn't just run off.
