rendered version of my previous video. The old video is actually just a quick render that I never did a full render, and I've finally gotten around to it.

It's this weird idea I have for an entirely electrical jet engine

The first stage, though not really visible, is a thin wire mesh which is the anode to an electrohydrodynamic based propulsion system. The cathode is that weird circle that looks checkerboard. It then passes the air through a fan, which blows it into a compression chamber, which heats up the air, and then expels compressed air out the back.

  • can you approximate the thrust?

  • nope. I'm not an engineer.

  • it was probably harder to make a 3d video of it than actually invent the damn thing

  • very nice :)

  • @Mindof6ix yeah i too am confused regarding the need for a turbine.

  • an EHD, as I undeerstand it, would only need a current to start...

  • but a scramjet needs speed to start

  • what would be the point of a turbine? It would just decrease efficiency. On could build an EHD turbine like a scram jet, no moving parts required...

  • how does it work?

  • could someone tell me how it exactly works?
