This ending gives meaning to the movie. "I am Legend". Because he sacrificed himself for the rest of Humanity. Those are legends.

I like this ending SO much better. He's legend, because he sacrifices his life for the woman, for humanity at large. I hate the ending where the humanoids are romancing. That's just lame.

@JonMarTwins They feed on humans and are intolerant to the sun. That's a vampire. Plus in the book they're vampires. And I'm referring to when the VAMPIRE is throwing himself at the plexiglass and the cracks he makes in it look like a butterfly.

@sabonater9 they are not vampires, and you hear Robert's daughter say "I'ts a butterfly" because you can see her (i don't remember what her name was) butterfly tatto, he didn't show that in this video

@noopy1993 Yes. That's the point. The vampires are being compared to butterflies. That's why you hear Neville's daughter in the background saying "Daddy, look, it's a butterfly"
