@SuperHalfie: Mind you, I was all of about 8 or 9 years old when this hit the street. I got some of this information from my dad years later, and other bits from the 'net.
Galt McDermot was the composer listed in the movie credits, since he actually wrote the music. However, some of the arrangements were written by Harold Wheeler, who's now arranging and conducting on the US version of "Dancing With The Stars".

Dig this: the drummer is none other than Bernard "Pretty" Purdie. Most of the musicians were in Purdie's band, the Playboys. He took over as leader after the death of "King Curtis" Ousley. The tracks were recorded in New York, at A&R Studios... and my dad was the engineer.
