I just got my kit in the mail and the die cast metal thing is plastic... I found I really don't need it for driving the screws, its more for snapping the head off... I found all my joists and drove in 19 screws and I still have not found that sweet spot. I know this product should work, but I don't know if my creaky squeaky floor is being caused by something else or what? Any advice? Thanks...

Wouldn't it be easier to pull the carpet up and find the nails?

This product sucks. Bought the hardwood floor kit from the US because Canadian stores stopped carrying them for years (ie. home depot CA). They stopped selling them in Canada for a reason, this product simply DOES NOT work.
First of all, it was virtually impossible to snap off the screw without leaving a giant print on the floor. Second, no matter how many screws you use, the floor still squeeks like before.
Now I got to spend another day to fill up the little holes on my floor too.

Shaddup all of you. I used this under carpet on my landing, which sounded like a tortured cat whenever we stepped on it. It's genius - worked perfectly without leaving any sign. I even had to use 5 or 6 before I found the spot that killed the squeak, but it doesn't matter - you couldn't find the screws if you tried, without maybe using a rare earth magnet or something.

lets just drill holes in the floor. solves squeaks but I'd rather not have holes underfoot.

Great description but video clarity is relatively poor..looks like a great product but you might want to put more energy/$ into video production...i'd buy it just the same though but you didn't mention where it is sold..?

@crossfireservice This is true for NEW construction, but people like myself who live in a 40 year old house that has floors squeaking all day, every day, this product is our solution to end this problem. Apart from tearing up all the carpet and subfloors, what other options are there? 40 years ago, nails were it for installing sub floor.. no glue, no screws...

I agree with that. It;s sad that they can't feel the joist as they screw into it. Great idea and product though. I will definitely will keep it in mind for my customers.

Most builders here in Ottawa Canada offer screwed subfloors...the problem is that the supposed tradespeople screw most of the screws into air rather than the joists. Its come back to pride in your work

This is a great product. But I must say, as builders and professionals, should we not make sure we glue and screw the sub-floor, on new constructions, all the time, to prevent squeaky floors?. I'm glad that most do not, for the sake of your product, and my business, but, I'm just saying.....
what if you don't have carpet?

It is supposed to work for hardwood floors also.
