NOTE - There is now an audio-fixed version of this review with much quieter in-game audio: http://youtu.be/xvW6w5Cfzzk

www.armchairarcade.com | Full text review: http://www.armchairarcade.com/neo/node/4346 | Bill Loguidice of Armchair Arcade takes a look at Atari's Flashback series of plug and play consoles, and specifically the new Flashback 3 from AtGames.

UPDATES:
I tried a fourth set of paddles and they work perfectly with the paddle games. You simply unplug the joystick and plug in the paddles and they work as they should. I have no idea why the other three sets did not work correctly, but I'll re-test on real hardware to make sure they didn't go bad, which is certainly possible.

The poster is staying as-is. It's rights-cleared.

They are aware of the issue with no way to access the status screen in "Secret Quest" and are, quote: "...swapping that game out next year for the very reason you noticed." So that's certainly one negative.

  • @BillLoguidice Rite Aid Pharmacy has this today for $ 30.00 BUCKS

  • @BillLoguidice sorry I saw after I posted comment, Thanks

  • @nathanallan1 If it's being sold for any more than $39.99, which is the official retail price, then it's that seller trying to take advantage before these things are widely available. Sadly, we see that thing all the time with tech stuff in limited supply (i.e., selling for more than the retail price).

  • @BillLoguidice I'll just have to see if I can find one to hack on, I bet there is some hidden expandability in there somewhere. It's on sale at Amazon for the $60, where is it for $39?
