While I never know quite what it will look like in performance, I was generally pleased with how this came out on film. I had one hour of practice to put this together, but my inspirations were Black Swan (for the costuming and lines), and the themes of love and loss (particularly, saying good-bye to someone you love).
Choreographer's Notes:
"There is a beautiful dance we do as partner in love, and while the risk of losing that love is a reality, for the moments that we have it, we must embrace it tenderly. When it's time to leave, we can leave gracefully. There are moments when we can't figure out where we begin and end, and the boundary between the dancer and veil begin to blur in our enmeshment with one another. Still, we will carry one another in our heads, if not in our bodies, forever. " [Imei Hsu, Jan. 2011] In memory of FJ, who lost her love, and then took her life.
My apologies to those of you who watched the first edit of the video. For some reason, the end got clipped. Here is the ending attached, which tells the end of the story.
This is one of the most beautiful veil routines I have seen in some time if not ever!

@SaniyahRaks Thank you for taking the time to tell me so. My veil "hero" is Sabura, who remains my inspiration.
