This short documentary, which seeks to examine the complex and dangerous interplay of narcotrafficking, gang violence, and education in Central America, centers on the lives of three young men, Mauricio Velazquez, Julio Ramirez, and Rafael Chavez, each of whom live and understand the three issues on different yet very real levels.
All filming and editing was done by Michael Niconchuk, Allyson Manning, Molly Ferrill, and Alfonso Enriquez in January 2010 in the small coffee community of Santa Anita la Unión, in Colomba, Guatemala.
The film was screened at Tufts University in February 2010 as part of a forum entitled "No Alcanza: Voices from Guatemala's Enduring Search for Peace." Form more information, please email buildprogram@gmail.com
