très belle auto: elle a une belle ligne (en avance sur son époque). la réfection de votre auto est sobre. Je félicite les états unis pour son patrimoine automobile !
Jeff, I question your "3 pointed star" information. In 1953, Studebaker was a well established car manufacturer. Mercedes was in shambles after WWII, missing their Jewish prisoner forced laborers, and in no position to object to any American carmakers expressions. Remember, in 1945 Germany was basically a large ruin. Then, as (as far as I'm concerned) now, Mercedes was virtually unknown in America. If they objected to a piece of chrome on a Ford or Chevy, how do you think that would go?
It's an early 53 Commander Starlight Coup. That three pointed star logo says it's early (Mercedes objected and Studebaker changed it) and the 8 combined with the star means it started as a V8 car so it's a Commander.
The Starliner looked much like this but it was a hardtop without the small real windows and the frames around windows in the doors. The Starlight has a much stiffer body.
This same basic car evolved into the Hawks and was built through the 64 model year.
Great Car.....what's the music?

@oldmusher A patent or trademark is just that. Lawyers can cease and desist. Mercedes was far from unknown.
