From Lauren: "For those that have not heard, yesterday morning (Apr 28, 2009) on the way back from Oklahoma, John's brand new trailer's brakes locked up and the trailer caught on fire. Eight horses were inside. They were able to get 5 horses out... and the others perished in the fire... including Carolina. Our prayers go out to John."

I know the McConnells personally and the barn was silent for weeks after the trailer accident. John said he saw ^ this horse run out of the trailer on fire :(

I just heard about the fire from a friend and I am so sad I want to cry. It's just terrible. My prayers go out to John and the horses.

I saw John and Carolinas winning ride on Sunday in Tulsa, and it was amazing. I'm so heartbroken at the loss of this magnificent horse. She embodied what show jumping is supposed to be.
