Great song, awful dance.

Wonderful! Marvellous! Greets from Freiburg! We miss Freddie!

I was watching this the night it aired long ago. like all boys of the day annette was female #1 in my book. also the freddie dance caught on for a short while believe it or not. I remember a gym full of us 7th and 8th graders doing it at a school dance in 1965.

@etbella3 "...but it's the laughter,we rememeber, whenever we remember, th way we were!". Peter Pan, like most songs of the modern era, are for those that choose falsehood over truth. Perhaps that's why many cultures promote fashion, food, alcohol, art, music and targeting faith as evil.

@tesstan1 I remember living with my grandparents in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, when a gorilla escaped from the zoo. All the kids from miles around formed a search party we organized ourselves and we looked for the ape from the dawn's early light until the wee hours of the next morning. We were not the ones who found the poor creature, but it's all about the journey, not the destination. And instead of being scolded or grounded, our elders were so proud of us.

@magovenor What's too painful to remember I simply choose to forget. And that's how Peter Pan never grows up.

@tesstan1 Yes, I too am not trying to debate with anyone about memories about times past. I just clearly recall that the great difference between now and then was that kids just was not allowed into adult affairs, no matter how much we wanted to be included. And I strongly associate that with why we were shielded more than children are today. We did "kid stuff" too, but we have so many strong recollections of so many hateful, evil, bigots.

@tesstan1 3rd post...Shielded you think? If I was, I thank my parents and my circumstances highly. And I'm so sorry you didn't have that freedom. The innocence of being a child isn't as great now.
I don't mean to start an issue here. I'm hoping more people confirm my idea of that era but only to themselves..... let these comments be about the video... Freddie and the DREAMERS. Not about arguing over whose memories are right.
@magovenor 2nd post...I remember being able to go outside in the morning and not going home until it was dark, maybe going home for lunch. And Mom wasn't afraid some one had abducted us. I remember getting together with friends.. parents playing canasta or pinochle and us kids playing outside until we were exhausted.

I feel so lucky to remember this era. Loved the music, the movies, the way of life.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if it all came back? Wouldn't you want your children and grandchildren to have the childhood you had?
