I'd be nervous enough just being stalled on the shoulder let alone trying to work under the hood of my car blinded by traffic in the fast lane with no shoulder. He definately had to much faith in his fellow drivers.

@Gian092- I don't know the Russian Highway Code i'm afraid. However, in that situation, stopping your vehicle with Hazards on after the crash and actually bringing other traffic to a stop would be a safer option rather than having traffic pass through a minor gap thus creating a further hazard. The Russians look like they could do with investing more cash into their motorway network...

You would endanger yourself and the others by pulling over and stopping on a motorway plus you woulg be committing an illegal action as you would be breaking the rules of the road since it's specified.
