Nono, back when Forrest meets her in the apartment, before she asks him to marry her, she tells him that she is sick and that the doctors don't know what it is.
And given by her behavior in the years leading up to her having that kid with Forrest; it's generally implied that she got Aids. Or at least that was the explanation my teacher gave us when we watched it in class. It does make sense when you think about it though. <__<
