Oh, spare the fuck out of me!
If my cat were attempting to kill a songbird or other critter that I wouldn't consider a pest, then yes, I would stop him.
I've done as much several times.
However, if he were killing a chipmunk, an animal that does considerable damage to houses by gnawing its way through the outer walls, I would cheer on kitty as he took it out for me.
Get a grip, already.
Watch a pack of wolves hunting a bison to see nature.
