Chicago patent attorney Rich Beem explains the difference between a patent agent and a patent attorney.

A patent agent is someone who helps process your patent request. They have a degree in engineering or science, they understand patent rules and laws, work with the patent office and even have to pass a difficult exam to be submitted to the patent bar. Now, a patent attorney is all that -- and more! A patent attorney also gives you the bonus of being a lawyer. So if your patent issue has to go to trial, your patent attorney is ready. If your patent application has issues that cause you to go to court, your patent attorney is there and involved. Watch the video to learn more.
