all i know is this song is both scary and beautiful, im more of an acid rain/idiot flesh fan, but this song has stuck out to me. It has many metaphors hidden in it for a reason, come to your own conclusion, and you are probably correct.

Dan is always heavy on social and political commentary. This was probably written with something simple like Capitalism in mind, but obviously it works in other ways... Dan just has a low opinion of humanity period.
