Macbook Pro Video Problem

This shows a video problem I have been having with my Late 2008 Unibody Macbook Pro 15". This is usually triggered when the laptop has been powered up for some time (over night) and connected to an external monitor. Although the problem does manifest itself on both the laptop display and the monitor. After it has been triggered it will usually start to happen in all applications, at first it is just one or two. A reboot or a login/logout fix the problem. Haven't been able to locate anything abnormal in the logs.

This happens very infrequently though, so it is very hard to re-produce for testing.
