Okay, this got a little choppy, but when I held up the potato chips there was a longer story there. Hey, it's hard to fit it all in, in under 70 seconds. My cousin Margo is a schoolteacher, she teaches elementary on a military base. According to her it's a big problem, the families are poor, and don't get adequate nutrition. She actually has kids who come to class with a bag of chips for lunch.

The harried quality captures how I feel on the mornings I forgot to make something the night before. Other times, I really enjoy putting the meal together. It's like an airplane meal. Little bit of protein, little bit of fruit, etc.

What are your favorite things to put in your kids lunch?

  • I used to make lunches for my little brothers and my parents. But we're african. I don't know if... Americans are... more detailed about their lunch or something.

  • do you have a child/ren that you have to make lunches for?

  • im not sure when you were in school but times have certainly changed from the 45 min lunch. children today get an average of about 20 mins for lunch. that includes the time it takes to get to the caf and wait in line for food. it is horrible. bec tchrs have to take kids to the caf they have even less time to eat. when i taught i use to eat celery sticks and an apple bec it's all i had time to eat.

  • i dont know where she sends her kids but when i was in school i got 45 min lunch break

  • My issue is the school only giving the kids 15 min to eat lunch. My sis-in-law was saying that her son kept bringing home over half his lunch because there wasn't time to finish it until the teacher INSISTED he throw it away - that's insane! 1st of all, if she tells him to bring it home to finish, they have no right telling him to throw it away. 2nd - even adults get a 30 min. lunch break!

And then as adults we tell them to relearn how to eat slowly...

  • agreed 100% lol

  • Uhm, lol... I don't know why she is acting like lunch is a big deal. I usually like her videos, but this was poor. You know when you make the lunch you put a sandwhich or leftovers and some fruit and snack in there. I mean, its never a dilemma.
