@lilmike55912 That's actually quite easily accomplished. Provided the island you are trapped on is Manhattan!

this song brings back alot of old memories I was stationed in lewiston new york 1955 and went to the movies in Buffalo and saw the movie Picnic

The Sweetest Vocal version we'll ever hear. Thanks for the post!

Excellent...another YouTube Classic.

Beaautiful harmony. I love the melody and the lyrics. Brings back fond memories of my childhood, listening to the radio an watching early TV. I had a big crush on Dorthy. She had such a warm pretty smile.

Love the melody and the harmony, very nostalgic. The McGuire Sisters were terrific. I remember seeing the movie "Picnic" when I was 12 years old and fell head over heels in love with Kim Novak. The scene (which is available on YouTube) where she dances with William Holden is one of the sexiest ever - and nobody even took off their clothes!

If I was trapped on an island.. I would wish I had this group for music! And also a way to play them!

Are they still alive?
I loved this song many years ago, but only tracked it down today. So poignantly escapist and brimful with longing and nostalgia, it's almost unbearable to listen to.

Ahhh... that tight, razor-thin female harmony that we mere males can never duplicate. (The Buffalo Bills of Music Man fame came close, eh?) George Cates - Maestro Welk's wunnerful wunnerful right hand man - piggy-backed this tune onto Moonglow to create an awesome Moonglow/Theme from Picnic medley that became a monster hit in the 1950s. Anyone out there in the YouTube family who can share that Cates recording - or even a clip from a Welk show? Thanks:)
