The celtic rock band NEEDFIRE performs an extreme high-energy fiddle medley they call "9 Minutes of WOO!" at the 27th Annual Southeast Florida Scottish Festival and Highland Games on Jan 9th, 2010, hosted by the Scottish American Society of Southeast Florida (SASSF).
Actually this was closer to 11 minutes at this particular performance, but since YouTube only allows a maximum of 10 minute upload, I had to truncate the beginning and ending a little bit. Sorry for overlaying the credits on top of the performance, but it was the only way I could get this short enough for the 10 minute limit of YouTube (it's currently at 9 minutes and 59 seconds at 1.29Gb, just barely small enough to upload).
This was filmed on a bitterly cold day in Fort Lauderdale, one of the coldest days we've had here in the last half-century. There was measurable snow this day in Orlando and Tampa, and some light snow flurries were even reported as far south as Miami itself. The SASSF Festival had itself just a taste of Scottish winter. We're really not use to this type of weather around here, my hands were so cold I could barely feel my fingers on the camera. It's a good thing that the Cannon HV20 has some nice image stabilization because I was certainly shivering while filming this. However, as you can see from this video, the guys from NEEDFIRE were jumping around so much they probably didn't even feel the cold, despite the freezing rain we had. But notice how everyone in the background is all bundled up...
"9 Minutes of WOO!" features the action-packed performance of Michael Purser on the violin, along with John Cleghorn on the guitar, Ed Walewski on the bass guitar, and Matt Henthorn on the drums.
