The New video with a good camera is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ll3ay...
The Gifford Children's Choir had such great success I started a non-profit so that kids all over SE Wisconsin could sing cool music. Children's Choir of teh Internet can be found singing video game songs, songs from geeky TV shows and alternative bands. Join us at ourmusicallife.org and www.youtube.com/ourmusicallife
The Gifford Children's Choir of Racine, WI performs "Still Alive" by Jonathan Coulton from the credits of the video game Portal © copyright Valve Corporation. Soloist is in an el-wire dress. We shot a better video.
See real better camera version, a video of the kids getting cake and a How We Did It Video at http://giffordchoir.wordpress.com
Some of my favorite comments and why.
awesome!!! Well done kids, this is epic win
-The kids worked very hard to pull this off. They deserve the praise ...and the cake.
Why couldn't my elementary school be so cool?
-Comments like this really made the kids proud.
Oh. My. God!
WHen I heard that song after playing portal for the first time I cried and laughed at the same time, because the combination of weird melancholy plus funny lines plus the high of just having mastered one fantastic game...
You just gave me that feeling once again!
This is beautiful! Awesome! Fantastic!
-This guy was so supportive that we invited him to be a member of the creative team. His advice has been invaluable. Thanks Michael.
why did i cry during this?
- We received so many comments like this here and on my blog. As a musician it was very rewarding to know that we had touched people's emotions so strongly.
I wish my music teachers had done stuff like this when I was younger. I would have joined choir immediately.
- And that is why I chose this song for the choir.
Get these kids to a recording studio and use the song as an easter egg in a game. Maybe in Episode 3?? If you are going to make it...
-Valve has been kind enough not to remove our videos and even included the "Full View" version in their e-book "Portal 2 The Final Hours." That is gamer bliss.
You kids are the reason the internet is awesome!
-The internet can be so full of hate and divisiveness that I am pleased that something like this can bring people together.
in a world of struggling music programs i am astounded you pulled this off, awesome! refuse to lose
-This guy understands the struggle. The choir program had a $200 budget from our PTA. The rest came from parent donations, fund raisers and program ads. It took a ton of volunteer hours from parents and me to build it into such an amazing program
This is epic, I can't believe that was a dress, So cute.
-Ms Janota did an amazing job with the dress and was vital to the visual presentation of our videos.
I'm surprised there aren't more outraged parents. Awesome performance. I absolutely loved it. I'm just surprised more parents aren't crying foul over the lyrics. Awesome sauce, though. Ten stars out of five.
-Cool parents are cool.
I live so close to Racine... i think my kids are transferring! Seriously, that school is 8 min away... i was thinking of moving to Racine this summer.......
-These kids brought a lot of attention and pride to Racine. This video is still the #1 most watched video with a Racine, WI tag. (Recently YouTube stopped identifying promoted videos in search results, so ignore the first three if you search Racine, WI, they are imposters.)
Oh great! ^^ Greetings from Canary Islands, Spain =)
-The videos on this channel have been viewed by people in 196 countries. That boggles my mind.
@redpill1984 no, just a concert. thos are just for fun.
im the choir director's son.
-My son did a lot to promote the video and helped it on its viral path. I gained a lot of respect for him. It means a lot to a dad to have your 17 year old son admit he belongs to you. He was also the inspiration for the Radiohead video.
COOLEST. CHOIR DIRECTOR. EVER.
-This is quite humbling. Having been a geek all my life, when people said this kind of thing I couldn't believe it.
This is wonderful and I wish that one day my child will be in a choir this cool
-I hope that the constant cuts to public education do not remove the opportunities for children to participate in programs like this. We live in such a politicized world that if we speak out for the things we believe in the other side does not seek to criticize, but to destroy. It doesn't matter which side of the political fence you are on.
