Original performance recorded on piano roll by the Welte company in 1909, probably in London.

This video recorded on the Steinway-Welte model B in the Augustinermuseum in Freiburg, Germany, May 2011. This is the Welte factory's demonstrator piano, once owned by the system's inventor Edwin Welte. Curator Gerhard Dangel and maintainer Hans-W Schmitz keep this historical instrument in fine playing form (and can both be seen here).

The last section of the roll was not recorded thanks to lack of memory!

  • TOO FAST!

  • @ocopicio - Welte rolls are fixed speed - at least they are supposed to be, and have only a small range of adjustment compared to other player systems - so this may well reflect the original performance. Hard to be sure without something to compare with.
