Cut perfectly matching dowel joints using a 1/4 inch router, ECT Router Guide and a spiral cutting router bit.

  • @TheYTViolation Whenever there is a discussion on joinery there is surely some heated arguments favoring one system over the other. So I will not really take any sides but I would say there is merit in each system and that includes the much derided pocket holes which I find very adequate in many situations most especially in face frames and carcass assembly if you can make them not too conspicuous. The only type that frankly I hate to use is the formerly beloved "biscuit joinery".

  • @TheYTViolation You're an idiot

  • @gluemanred Please stop. You are really looking like an idiot. Professional means you make money doing it. Your point would be valid for the term "expert", not professional. I make a living as a professional woodworker. Man, you are slow. I will read your replies no more.

  • @TheYTViolation By your previous comment, it sounded like you didn't. Just because you've been doing something for years, doesn't mean you're a professional at it ;)

  • @gluemanred You are joking, right? Like I don't know that. The point was that there are more desirable ways other than doweling. Strong, yes. Pain in ass, yes. I've been a professional woodworker for years, I have other methods.

  • @TheYTViolation So that you don't have screw holes showing from the sides. Dowels are also far more sturdy than biscuit joints

  • Well I can't hear what is being said anyhow!

Wehn I feel too idle to do the job properly; or it's a rush job for a shelf in the shed! :)

  • Interesting, but dowel joinery is sorta like using slotted screws.....you can, but why in the world would you?
