"The Austrian-born composer Arnold Schoenberg is credited with the invention of this technique, although other composers (e.g., the American composer Charles Ives and the Austrian Josef Hauer) anticipated Schoenbergs invention by writing music that in a few respects was similar technically to his 12-tone music." ("12-tone music -- Britannica Online Encyclopedia.") you have 12 tone and serial music mixed up or maybe 12 tone and chromaticism.

it's because i teach theory that i don't respect him

he didn't invent it you retard
the "roots of music" probably lie much more with rhythmic variation and have very little to do with harmony and melody, the former not being expanded on until the middle ages, the latter with the greeks as earliest recorded. also, beauty doesn't equal vision, and the "experiment" is still being taught in universities as early serialists conceived it. if you don't understand it, don't bash it.
