This video explains the many techniques of band ZZ Top and their guitarist Billy Gibbons. Gibbons is certainly one of the most infuential guitarists of the last 30 years infusing rock music with power, passion, and understated guitar fury.
His approach to the instrumnent and his unique style have enable the band to survive over three decades of musical twists and turns. Always ready to adapt to the changing music scene (i.e. their use of synthesizers during the 80's, witness this particular track!) they managed to keep their blues/rock roots intact.
My hope is that you take away from this video a new way of seeing the guitar's role in music based on the blues/rock style--one that is based on emotion and strength and not on flash and overabundance.
Good luck with this classic work by ZZ Top, "Legs".
