This kinda of thing make me really laugh at the fools who convert their normal cars to electric.. Takes them about 14hours to charge and they get 100kms per charge loll.. We need this engine, with a swap out battery design..Most people will not inconvienece themselfs for the sake of the planet.. If we are to go electric, drop in batterys (same changeover time as filling the tank and cheaper) Think of it as thoese LPG bottles, you drop off the old one and grab a new one :D
Noo you misunderstood.. I love the tesla. I know its not that slow to recharge, but im saying the DIY ones are horrid..People simply dont have the research and money to develope a good system. Tesla steped out on a limb here, and are holding up quite well :)
True, never saw it as a project.. I was refering to the people who make backyard conversion kits. Who grab a lot of lead acid battery's, and hook it upto an electric motor.
Yeah, those kits suck. But they are beginner kits. Not electric muscle car conversion kits. Now that would be cool, if someone made a Mazda rx7 FD electric muscle conversion kit.

If people want to convert their car to electric, it is not stupid. Some people like doing that for fun. Like building a hot rod or something.
