Part 2 of 4. How to play Herzog Zwei, a review of gameplay with footage showing tactics, tips, codes and strategy. Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of HERZOG ZWEI, the realtime strategy game for the Sega Genesis. Herzog Zwei is a game where you play realtime strategy against an opponent as a transformable jet fighter that turns into a giant robot, like a Transformer (Jetfire anyone?) or a Veritech fighter from Robotech (Jetfire anyone?). Similar in style to Command and Conquer yet different in every way from Command and Conquer, Herzog Zwei is a challenging game that allows you to command an army of tanks, missile launchers, bikes, armored cars and gun turrets and wage war against a mysterious blue alien race of tanks and transforming robots. Capture bases, waste enemy units with your giant Go Bot and blow their headquarters to bits. If you want to learn some tips and tricks and how to play Herzog Zwei watch the four part review for gameplay. Tips and tricks flow out of this gameplay rich review because CGRHD is a master of Herzog Zwei and believes that it needs to come out on Xbox Live Arcade XBLA or PS3 Playstation 3 Network so that the rich multiplayer mode of the game can be brought back to life. Technosoft created this game in 1989 and it was released for the United States version of the Mega Drive (Megadrive) in 1990. The Mega Drive had many games from Technosoft including THUNDER FORCE 2, Thunder Force 3 and Thunder Force 4 (Lightning Force aka Lightening Force). Save your game with codes from Herzog Zwei, and this video series shows some codes for Herzog Zwei along with gameplay tips, tricks and strategy! Classic Game Room was the original classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999-2000, now on DVD. The reviews on the HD series are reviewing PS3, PS2, Genesis, NES, Atari and Xbox 360. • I say "ZWY". Why? Because I'm an Aussie and nobody here could give a rat's arse about how to correctly pronounce a German word.

Shit, we barely know how to pronounce THE NAMES OF OUR OWN TOWNS. Not surprising when you have places like Mudgeereeba and Indooroopilly and Tallebudgera Creek. And Mooball. Yes, we have a town in Australia called Mooball. WTH.

  • actually you pronunce Herzog wrong too

because the z is very... sharp in german more like "ts"

  • My cousin and I used to play this. I always beat him. But finally he won an intense, grueling 45 minute game. We never played again.

  • i pronunce hersog subuei lol

  • being English, I say Her-Tsog Ts-Vy

  • Singapore here! I pronounce it as 'z-way' as to us, 'wei' = 'way'

  • For everyone wishing for a port of Herzog Zwei, a modern clone called AirMech is coming soon(ish). It'll be for PC initially, but the developers are considering other platforms too. Features include online multiplayer.

  • Why was this never ported to DS and PSN XBox Live with online play?

Herzog Zwei is potentially the best online multiplayer game ever.

The CPU's OCD is not always all-consuming; there have been some occasions when the CPU would attack one of my sub-bases many times with no success, but then turned his attention to another of my bases. The CPU AI sometimes pulls off surprises and gets the upper hand.

  • Why oh why was this not ported to the DS and released on XBox Live and PSN with online play.

  • Cool game. Took me 3 and a half hours to beat the computer! But with these kind of games I never attack until I control all the map.

  • @halidefox Don't forget Tittybong and Waaia.

  • Hey I really enjoyed your review, this is also one of my favourite games. I would love to play against you one day as you seem to have a very defensive strategy whereas mine is pure offense, I think it would be an interesting game. Unfortunately I live in the Uk so chances of us meeting are slim!
