Hi atisaseret,
Love your comment.
Maria was born the weaver's lover, born for the loom's desire, Laura was the weaver of songs and her loom, the piano.

btw Zoe Nicholson, Maria's ex, and in later life "Lauria's" close friend said that Laura considered her songs to be poems.

the only version of this song i was familiar with til now was Frankie Valli & The 4 Seasons from their Half & Half album. my father bought that album for me around 1970 when it was new. i was 5 or 6. even at that age, something fascinated me about that song. i knew i loved it - very peaceful with beautiful chords, not drastically different from Laura's version. i was a little surprised when i found out she wrote it. it's taken on a different meaning for me now, being a gay man. ;) thanks, Laura!

"EMMIE" is a hauntingly beautiful tribute to Laura's Life Partner - Maria Desiderio.
What an Amazingly Beautifully Gorgeous song with woven with Poetry.

This is a very interesting song... and the chords are very beautiful. Not to say that there IS an absolute cannotation of lesbian implications in this song--they are there of course, depending on how you 'read' into it.

Still, the song ratifies the strong appreciation or value of a special friendship for 'any' reason... It is beautiful all the same!

Just heard this on B Manilow's D island Discs [BBC]. Great song - Bacharach style progressions - with interesting oddities in the arrangement.

This was a very special soul. She showed us the goddess. Listening to her music opened up another dimension and into it we went, to meet ourselves (both genders included). I know this sounds a bit spacey...i don't mean it to....but those of us who loved her music absolutely and totally loved the person behind it. And always will. That love is evident in all these postings. Sigh.
