This is a very boring video, but only to us! Chanel finds her salmon-laced ice cube very interesting, however! Chanel is home after spending the night at the Vet E.R. on Sunday night. She would cough every time she moved Thursday night & when I noticed she was breathing a little heavier than normal on Friday morning, I immediately took her to the vet because I suspected some food or water went down the wrong pipe & she was getting a lung infection. To my horror, I was told that she had an enlarged heart & to see a cardiologist on Monday, but we had to rush her to the Vet E.R. on Sunday, and I'm glad we did, because she wouldn't have made it. Apparently, Friday she was just beginning congestive heart failure. They have her on meds that will help her heart to function better & will make her comfortable, but unfortunately there is no cure for mitral valve stenosis & she may have 6 mo, 1 yr, 2 yrs, but I hope much, much longer. Smaller dogs do better than bigger dogs with this problem. She had no prior symptoms -- enjoyed walking & had lots of fun last week. We will now have to take slow strolls when the vet gives the ok, & thankfully she loves being carried everywhere in my purse. Mitral valve problems are not uncommon in papillons. If your dog coughs after being picked up, you might want to have your doggie checked. The earlier the better!! Chanel has always coughed after drinking water, but just recently starting coughing when being picked up, and then Thursday night she was coughing for moving from one dog bed to another. I love you so much, Miss Chanel Love Potion No. 5!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for that information and we hope Chanel continues to be OK. We lost our Shih Tsu (Corky) earlier this year and he had really bad coughing issues. It wasn't a heart related problem; the vet said he had tracheal constriction which is a Shih Tsu ailment.

  • Well I hope for the best for her and there are not many papillon vids out there so its not really that boring.
