In the wake of three high profile equestrian sport deaths in two weeks PETA arrived at the Horse Racing Commission at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

Immediately following the death of Eight Belles this week in the Kentucky Derby and the deaths of Frodo Baggins and Quiet Man last week during the Rolex Three Day Event, PETA organized a protest for change in the industry.

funny how they have stats on how many peta has euthanized but they failed to remember kill shelter have euthanized more, and the horses? let's go there, when the horses are no longer deemed breedable or raceable they are sent to slaughter house to be made into dog and cat food, glue, and flesh covered couches and chairs. they are over bred and suffer from birth defects. Horse racing is a glorified zoo for idiots with gambling addictions and appetites for violence against horses.

I agree with PETA! Animals don't wake up and say they want to win a race! Animals get hurt all of the time and they are exercised like crazy so they can run as fast as they can! The truth is...around 700 horses are euthanize every year becuase of race related injuries! People do not know anything about PETA and then they speak out of their asses.

well its not cruelty and mis management of the horses on the track its the fact that we have breed the sturdy bone structure out of the race horses. If we were to breed the large bone structure back into the thoroughbred race horses maybe they would not break down. Race horses industry is not about the drugs and steroids. The money from the horses and the gambling does go back to the community as well as to the schools. Drugs amongst the horses and the jockeys is baned and everyone is tested.

OMG! What a friggen hypocrit! this mad me so pissed off... PETA is a groupd of ignorants! the dont know anything about anything! Ive been behind the scenes and its not what they want you to think it is! the horses are treated well!!! Stupid ignorant people.... I seriously cant stand this.....It reminds me of them coming t o the county fair and letting horses and cows loose because they deserve to be 'free' and it was wrong to have them at the fair.go get a freeking life and LEAVE everyone Alone
