CAMPAIGN TO INCREASE THE AFRO-LATIN@ COUNT ON THE 2010 CENSUS
By proclaiming Check Both!/¡Chequea las dos! the bilingual spots produced by the afrolatin@ forum, a NYC-based non-profit highlight the importance for Latin@s of African descent to self-identify as such on the Census.
The implications of the count are far-reaching, determining how $400 billion in federal funds are distributed to local governments each year. Over 10 years, a community could lose a projected $1.2 million of federal funding for housing, health and education programs for every 100 persons that are not counted, according to the NAACP. Studies have established that despite a higher educational level Black Latin@s have the highest rate of unemployment and are more likely to live below the poverty level than other Latin@s.

Chappa thanks but I can considered myself whatever I want, latino, afrolatino, whitelatino, indialatino, But the important thing is that I don't want to label myself with a particular race. This is the first step for discrimination and the origin of racism!
First is very subjective.
Second what I am is just a nice mix. Why not to put a category that say mix?
Third, Why to put so much emphasis in the color of the skin? Do the government do not have anything better to ask?

This is non-sense,
I am a mix, of white, black and indian.
So where do I put?
My father is from one country and mother is from another?
The classification do not serve for any purpose specially in today world
The only thing that these serve is to discriminate.
To put the label. As the jews were force to wear a star.
Why not to ask useful questions about my living conditions, my health or the needs of the community?
