Multiple Contacts - Sage Peachtree 2010

The new "Contacts" tab in the Customers screen allows you to keep track of virtually unlimited contacts for every customer. Track details about each contact, including a new notes field, phone numbers, and email. If you do business with multiple sites and have multiple employees for your customers, you can now easily keep track of all of them in Peachtree 2010.

If you change billing addresses everytime you enter a transaction, rickpiet9 is right that you will still experience the same issues you had in previous versions. Also changing some billing address data will take a few more steps in 2010. He is also correct in that, setting up a new Ship To will take 2 to 3 more steps and you select addresses based on name not necessarily Ship To 1 - 20. The trade off being more precise contact and shipping information.

Under Peachtree 2010 implementation, a company cannot have more than one buyer, now known as the billing contact. The billing contact cannot be changed ... only deleted or over-typed.

Sales Orders and Invoices can only be emailed to the billing contact.

Wait till you see the mess you get when you create an order with a new ship to address ... especially if you service distributors.

Ship to addresses are now sorted by name ... meanind that ship to address 5 now follows ship to address 9.

Been working with rickpiet9 & he has good enhancments for long time PT behavior, like adding multiple buyers to avoid confusion in his office where contact = buyer; billing info on SOs & emails; & having contacts on addresses. Contacts were called "recipient" before. We've expanded contacts & given users greater control & content they asked for. This means it does take more clicks to enter an address, now. Reduce your confusion by entering name and address from the Contacts tab, not Addresses.

This feature makes Peachtree much more difficult to use as it ties contacts to shipping addresses. It is awkward having to create a new contact in order to set up a shipping address. And, the feature does not provide for taking orders from multiple buyers at a given customer. It always puts the billing address contact in sales orders and in email correspondence. All in all, a poor implementation.

Peachtree 2009 was a better product.
