After Cyphotilapia frontosa kigoma was discovered in late 1970s, searchers or exporters did not pay attention to its natural habitat. All we knew that was a first seven stripe Frontosa and that was it.

In fact, kigoma sand is RED and water is turquoise (blue-green).

Due to a unique natural habitat at kigoma, there is not only wild Cyphotilapia frontosa Kigoma has more gold coloration on its body but other fishes also have more gold/red on their body such as: Pectrochromis, Compressiceps, Xenotilapia, etc.

Yes, any cichlids from Kigoma location of Lake Tanganyika, you will expect it has gold/red coloration on them. Because Cyphos. Frontosa kigoma is so unique; I called it a forgotten frontosa.

  • hi! i have 2 frontosa burundi 7 inches. i would like to add 2 or 3 more frontosa 3 inches. is it a good idea??

  • @3000carriers,

It is not a good idea to add 3 smaller frontosa in the tank, because 2 big frontosa can kill smaller frontosa.
