We need to educate people that animals must be treated humanely, and not killed brutally in this manner.
People who are veg*an, and are for animal rights, need to understand that this sort of practice is not going to disappear very easily. The traditional land owners have been displaced, and so they have been given native hunting rights to "appease" the human rights abuses that has occurred.
This is a very delicate issue.
Personally I am against the slaughter of turtles.

"The killing of turtles is only acceptable for non-commercial needs'? What does this mean for heaven sake? That's it's okay to kill them if you're going to give away the fins, or make turtle soup in your own home. I've been to Cape York and there are plenty of other sources of food available. Thanks Earthrace Conservation for bringing this to my attention. I will be googling for any other info and ways that I can help bring this to an end.
