The original band formed from the Band 'DICE' after we did a spot at Neil's wedding. His best man sang the Joe Cocker version of Help from My Friends and an extended band backed him. We had so much fun we formed the East Side Torpedoes. The name for the wedding gig was Royston Tramdriver and the Tickettes. Punchy or what !
Good to hear that the tracks can be downloaded now. These take me back. It's over 30 years since we kicked the band off at The Traveller's Rest, Darlington. There were 5 songwriters in the band at that time and to carry a whole night on original tracks was some undertaking. This was back around 1978. We did the Melody Maker Competition in 1979 and got to be runners up. The band can still be seen there under their new identity The Smokin' Spitfires.
