HPV race Velodrome Alkmaar

The Dutch HPV racers hunting for the 1000m sprint WRRA World Record at the fast 250m track of the Velodrome in Alkmaar. 35 racers were there. World Champion Hans Wessels (featured at the beginning of this film) was the fastest both at the 1000m sprint (with a new World Record) and at the 40 minutes criterium. The criterium was amazing right from the start with Hans sprinting away like with the devil on his heels with almost 60km/h. Well, it was actually Ymte who chased him in his Quest velomobile for the first half of the race. Almost puking his guts out, Ymte finally had to let go. Hans average was more than 53km/h!

This 1km (@1m07.2s) is not the world record for recumbents on an indoor track, already 1997 another dutch rode 1m6.69 and since then people have gone faster, look it up...
