A Magnetic Resonance Technologist works in an evolving field using magnetism, radio waves and computers to acquire cross-sectional images of the body. Standard imaging now include breast imaging, cardiac and pediatric specialties.

high school preparation: Academic high school diploma with an emphasis on English, Mathematics and Sciences.
academic requirements: To enter a Magnetic Resonance Imaging program, candidates must be a registered technologist in Medical Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy or Sonography. Training consists of both classroom and clinical experience for a period of 9 to 12 months. An exception to this is at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology where students can apply directly from high school to a 2 year diploma program.
